Application of WUCM-20 Ultra Centrifugal Mill in Plastic Granule Grinding
Release:Welso Tech.Date:2026-05-07 11:40:34

1. Objective

Plastic granules typically exhibit high toughness and are difficult to grind efficiently at room temperature. This experiment utilizes the WUCM-20 Ultra Centrifugal Mill combined with cryogenic pretreatment to achieve rapid and efficient pulverization of plastic materials into fine powder for further analysis or processing.

2. Equipment Advantages (Application-Oriented)

The WUCM-20 offers several key features that make it ideal for plastic grinding:

High-Speed Two-Stage Grinding

Multiple Rotor Options

Cryogenic Grinding Support

Low Noise Operation

Sealed Grinding Chamber

3. Experimental Procedure

3.1 Sample Pretreatment

Immerse the plastic granules in liquid nitrogen for approximately 10 minutes to induce brittleness and improve grinding efficiency.

3.2 Equipment Setup

Connect the power supply and turn on the instrument

Install a 12-tooth rotor

Mount a 0.5 mm sieve ring and ensure proper placement in the collection system

3.3 Parameter Settings

Speed: 10,000 rpm

Time: 120 seconds

3.4 Pre-Run and Pre-Cooling

Start the instrument and allow it to reach the preset speed

Add a small amount of liquid nitrogen to pre-cool the grinding chamber

3.5 Grinding Process

Mix the sample with liquid nitrogen

Gradually feed the material through the inlet

Continue until all material is processed

3.6 Sample Collection

After the run, stop the instrument

Open the lid and remove the collection tray

Collect the finely ground powder

4. Results

After cryogenic treatment and high-speed grinding, the plastic granules are effectively reduced to a uniform fine powder, with improved particle size consistency suitable for downstream applications.

Cryogenic Ultra Centrifugal Grinding

5. Precautions

Cryogenic pretreatment is essential
Plastics are heat-sensitive and must be embrittled using liquid nitrogen to avoid melting or agglomeration.

Maintain low temperature during operation
Liquid nitrogen should be used during feeding to counteract heat generated during grinding.

Control feeding speed
Add the sample slowly and evenly to prevent clogging or overloading.

Clean the equipment after use
Thorough cleaning prevents cross-contamination in subsequent experiments.

Wide Range of Applications

6. Conclusion

The WUCM-20 Ultra Centrifugal Mill combines high-speed impact grinding with cryogenic processing, making it especially suitable for tough and heat-sensitive materials such as plastics and rubber. Its flexible configuration and reliable performance significantly improve grinding efficiency and sample quality, making it an ideal solution for laboratory sample preparation.
